"Shred the Love"...

My goals this year for the shred-a-thon are to raise a lot of money and get everyone excited about how inclusive our lives can be. I have been working with Dream Adaptive for 6 seasons up on Whitefish Mountain and have come to understand what inclusion truly is. I have the opportunity to share my love for the great sport of skiing with anyone no matter what their abilities. There is something about sliding around on the snow that kicks off a freedom from within and makes us feel like we can accomplish anything!!  The love shared and the love felt when everyone has the opportunity to feel this freedom from within is what inclusion means to me. This is an amazing and life changing experience for all...!!! 
 

To me there is no better feeling than riding on the lift with one of my participants and hearing how much fun they had on the last run, and skiing down behind them listening to the hoots and shouts of joy as the snow hits their face, or when they accomplish a task that they have been working on for a bit, and it all clicks for them. The smiles on their face and their sense of accomplishment gives me overwhelming joy!!!!  Those accomplishments, and moments of joy keep me coming back year after year with excitement wanting to shred and spread my love for the great sport of skiing to all.

The Shred-A-Thon is a key fundraiser, on-snow celebration, and vertical challenge (optional) at Whitefish Mountain Resort, in support of DREAM Adaptive Recreation!   DREAM is a 501c3 nonprofit based in Whitefish, Montana with a mission to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing year-round outdoor adaptive recreation programs.  DREAM serves individuals ages 5 to adults, including Military Veterans through their empowering services.  In 2023, DREAM provided 1,527 lessons and opportunities to 329 unique individuals with disabilities.

Donations through the Shred-A-Thon event support year-round programs through initiatives such as purchasing and maintaining adaptive sports equipment, providing instructor training & certification opportunities, and providing subsidized rates and financial aid scholarships to ensure everyone has access to our programming.
